Description

PHO Rounds: Visiting Speaker

Preparing for Health System Change: Opportunities for Public Health Leadership

Sponsored by the Sheela Basrur Centre, this session builds on the high level of interest in dialogue on system transformation at TOPHC 2016.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Patients First Discussion Paper proposes to better integrate public health with other health services through alignment within Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs). The purpose of this session is to explore opportunities and challenges for public and population health and integration at the local level. In particular, the session will consider ways for public health to actively lead and support change in Ontario’s health system. Based on Ontario’s context, as well as learnings from other jurisdictions, it will explore how public health professionals at all levels can contribute to improving the health of all Ontarians and addressing inequities.

The session will begin with a presentation by Dr. Moloughney, followed by an open discussion moderated by Dr. Peter Donnelly.
